“to promote and protect the mental health and wellbeing of men who are experiencing issues that are having a detrimental affect on their mental health and wellbeing by the provision of support and practical advice.”
This vision is simplified with the following mission statement: we are men united, stepping together from beneath the clouds of hopelessness towards futures filled with hope.
Men United Peterhead is a charity in Peterhead, Scotland, that has been established to challenge the stigma that surrounds men’s mental health and positively impact on the devastating consequences of poor emotional and mental health. The organisations achieves its aims in the following three ways:
i) Peer Support Groups ii) Mentoring iii) Motivational workshops and event speaking
Poor mental health has terminal consequences. The suicide statistics amongst men are tragic, ever growing and desperately need reversing. To play our part in challenging the status quo we have established the following (non exhaustive) list of initiatives:
– weekly peer support groups (in person/ virtually)
– social networking opportunities for men to stay connected
– a mentoring programme to place volunteers alongside men who are going through a tough time
– workshops based on our HEX Model
